My Process . . .

For me, Silent Collage Practice is all about tuning into my intuition and allowing my subconscious mind to come to the surface. It’s about trusting myself that I will be drawn to the pictures, the papers, the textures that I need. It’s about shifting through the supplies and gathering up what speaks to me as my mind, body, and spirit work as one and open to the silence of creation. It’s about letting go while I create: letting go of any preconceived ideas of what the collage is going to be about, letting go of the need to check in with others about what I pick out, and, most importantly, letting go of the outcome. Because this process allows me to go deeply inside of myself, feelings will surface and that will sometimes make me go and search again through the supplies. I stay with the feelings as I create.

I love the energy of creating with others in silence and feeling supported by each person present. It is rare that a collage turns out like I thought it would in my mind while creating it. And that’s what makes it so much fun and so surprising! Sometimes I work with an intention, and sometimes not. Sometimes the meaning of the collage comes to me while I’m creating it in the moment, and other times the meaning is revealed after it is completed and I’ve shared it with others. In order to illustrate what I mean by this, I’ve written a description of the first collage I made called The Invitation, click here to read more.

I would sum this process up as freeing! It’s about giving myself the gift of time to create, and the freedom to tap into who I am in this now moment! It is a present experience. It is my deepest intention that you will enjoy this process and tap into this freedom for yourself . . . Cheryl
